FINDING MY WAY

Cee always wanted to travel but growing up with very protective parents made it harder as they restricted her movement and still saw her as a child. If it wasn’t work or something important, she was not allowed to sleep out. Her first trip by air was to Abuja, story for another day, and it obviously was with their consent.

She got invites to visit Ghana many times but turned it down because she knew what the response would be when she sought permission, she finally told her parents about it. They disagreed but she never gave up. Cee spoke about it for a long time until they eventually agreed to let her go on the condition they get to know this friend (Tee) that invited her. After some days of chit chat, the date was fixed and all she could do was look forward to it.

Cee wanted to explore Africa by road so she decided to go by road so she could get a glimpse of other countries they would pass through and Tee told her to book a ride with one of the transportation companies in Lagos that plied the Accra to Lagos route. Being a rebel, Cee didn’t listen, instead, she made up her mind to find her way on her own which led to her major adventure.

The night before the road trip, Cee could barely sleep. She packed her bags and double checked to make sure she didn’t forget anything. She was prepared for any situation or so she thought. The next morning, she was left home very early and at 7am she was at Iyana Iba in a vehicle calling passengers to Seme Border. The bus left the park a few minutes after 8 and the journey began. The ride was bumpy as the road was in a terrible state and there was the morning traffic for those traveling.

She had done a mental calculation of when she would arrive in Accra without thinking of the time that would be spent at the border.

Trouble started when the vehicle got to the first checkpoint. Only then did she realize there were foreigners in the vehicle and many of them were without their international passport😳. After a 30 minutes wait, the journey continued. As they passed badagry, another set of immigration and custom officers stopped the vehicle and the same set of people were asked to go with them. Cee was getting impatient and a police officer stopped a vehicle for her to continue her journey.

On getting to Seme border, everything had changed. It was totally different from how she remembered it 8/9 years ago when she visited her aunt in Cotonou. Since she didn’t know her way around, she was handed over to an immigration officer who took her to the office to get her passport stamped. Little did she know what she was getting herself into.

To be continued…….

LOVE WEDDING REPEAT: WHAT YOU MAKE OF SITUATIONS.

We have all seen movies where they have a do-over to either find out who killed the star of the movie either on their wedding day (I DO I DO I DO) or prevent the star from dying (HAPPY DEATH DAY, RUSSIAN DOLL, BEFORE I FALL). But, what if you could try out all your possibilities for the outcome of events on your special day.

Alternate versions of the same wedding unfold as Jack tries to make sure his little sister Hayley has the perfect wedding day. Hayley’s to be husband Roberto is oblivious of the fact that Marc her ex he knows nothing about invited himself to ruin their big day.

Jack tries to make his sister’s wedding the best while avoiding his ex Amada who hated him but is always everywhere he is and trying to cosy up to Dina who is Hayley’s friend and a war correspondent he met in Rome 3 years earlier.

Love Wedding Repeat is a romantic comedy that is infused with a tiny bit of tragedy and a lot more. It was a bit confusing at a point but if you knew what you were getting into, i.e eight different ways a day could turn out if eight different people took what was meant for one person in particular, you might not be so disappointed.

I really don’t know what to say but in the end, Jack was able to give his sister the perfect wedding and get to be with the girl of his dreams.

MY SPY THE MOVIE: HOW TO BE A SPY 101

What does it take to become a spy? Invisibility? Hidden identity? Lies? Handling a gun? Brains? These are some of the commonly asked questions all over the world. Some people have the natural qualities while some have to undergo special training.

In MY SPY, JJ (Dave Bautista) a hardened CIA operative and his new partner Bobbi (Kristen Schaal) who loves to make chit-chat are caught by 9 year old Sophie (Chloe Coleman) spying on her family during a routine surveillance operation. Sophie makes a deal with JJ teach her how to become a spy in exchange for not blowing their cover. Sophie who grew up in France is having trouble fitting in at her new American school.

The plan goes so well that he becomes her special friend, against his will and gets close to her widowed mum. Sophie passes the lie detector test, ability to enter houses and a few other tests while JJ unknowingly helps the little girl revive her social life.

They make a perfect squad and at the last minute, work as a team to defeat the bad guys (her uncle included). At the end of the movie, JJ had to throw a grenade into a truck that refused to explode so Sophie could have her “walk away from an explosion moment” to the disbelief of her worried mother who scampered to safety.

The movie is a good one which reeks of action, adventure, comedy and a little romance. The movie has some swear words so don’t leave kids alone to watch it. It’s a great movie. Expected more though but it still does it for me.

IS THE MAIN EVENT WORTH VIEWING?

I lay awake all night, with nothing to do. After trying to sleep so hard and nothing happened, I turned to Netflix and there it was, THE MAIN EVENT.

It is nothing like the movie the main event released in 1979. The storyline is totally different, the only similarities being they are both stories about fights in the ring.

Those who believe in magic and those who love wrestling would love the movie. A little boy who loves the WWE stumbles on a mask that changes his life entirely. The mask, which is very stinky by the way, gives him strength, speed, confidence, basically powers he never possessed.

Leo, an 11 year old boy, dreamed everyday of fighting in the WWE and fights his way to win the NXT title as Kid Chaos with the help of the magical mask and his family and friends. Funny thing is he wins without the help of the mask but by believing in himself, words his father and grandmother told him. He also gives his slot in the WWE to his new friend, Smooth Operator warning him to watch his back because he is joining in 10 years. His grandmother’s character is one I could predict but I still loved her character.

The main event ended as the main event before the major event at school. Leo the nerd who got bullied became a star and a hero.

COFFEE & KAREEM: THE MOVIE

When you watch movies on Netflix, it suggests new movies for you and informs you of movies that are coming soon. When I saw the trailer for Coffee and Kareem, I was so interested I set a reminder.

The movie was finally available and when I saw it, it was almost like every other movie. The story line is okay, the choice of Taraji P. Henson as the mother was a great one.

Taraji played the role of a single mother who would do anything to keep her child safe, even if it means losing the man she loves. Her child Kareem on the other hand is one who tries to act tough.

Coffee’s a white cop who can’t shoot straight and is dating Vanessa whose kid has a nose for trouble and is not happy his mum is dating a white cop (no racism intended). Coffee and Kareem later find out they can work together after all the trouble, gun fights, near death experiences and kidnapping they went through together as a family. Kareem agrees Coffee is good for his mum but is still on probation.

This is the story of every single parent out there whose child is used to getting all the attention from his/her parent but in this case the mum. Whenever their mum finds love, they find it hard to adapt and most times try all they can to end the relationship so they can have all the love and attention. Accepting their parent’s new partner takes a long time and the person has to work hard to earn their trust.

Altogether, it is a good movie to watch. Not so bad.

MONEY HEIST 5 THEORIES

For those wondering who Lisbon is or how she got the name, that wasn’t always her name.

In season 1 of the Spanish crime drama Money Heist, or La Casa de Papel, Raquel Murillo was introduced as an inspector of the National Police Corps who was out to get the crew arrested. In the third season, she comes back with a new name – Lisbon, and begins a relationship with The Professor (Alvaro Morte). In season 4, she was arrested and interrogated by Inspector Alicia Sierra who took over her position.

The ending of season 4 left a lot of people with unanswered questions and the most asked question was if the unpredictable Inspector Alicia Sierra would join the gang to save herself and her unborn child OR if she would turn the Professor over to the authorities to try to reduce her punishment?

Here’s what I think. The fact that her character is unpredictable makes it harder to say what step she might take but she is an intelligent lady and she has lost her integrity with the revelations and her involvement in Rio’s near-death experience. All she has is her pregnancy and there is already a warrant for her arrest.

I bet she might join the gang, then take her share of the loot far away to bring up her child while being Proffesor number 2. She implicated the whole govt so that is unforgettable or unforgivable and many international bodies are already aware of her involvement so taking the Professor in won’t make that go away. The best option would be to team up with the Professor and her job would obviously involve brainstorming on how to get the gang out of the Bank of Spain.

I’m so looking forward to season 5. Are you?

What are your predictions?

THE MONEY HEIST CRAZE

Amidst the Corona Virus lockdown, the major conversation these past few days have been about the 4th season of Money heist. So many interesting things about series, the characters, the plot twists, even the use of countries as their heist names and a lot more. I won’t bore you with the details.

This fourth season comes with some turns like how did we go from Nairobi surviving the gunshot wound to her dying from another gunshot, this time by Gandia the Chief Security Officer of the governor of the Bank of Spain.

As soon as the Professor confirmed Lisbon was being interrogated by Alicia Sierra in the tent , he swung into action and plans were made to get her released. This set Plan Paris in motion introducing the new recruits who did a smooth job.

Gandia went from being a hostage to being their worst nightmare thanks to Palermo. He tried to take them out one after the other and failed. The team worked together with Palermo and Gandia was captured while Lisbon reunited with the gang in the Bank.

Tokyo earned the nickname the Maserati which she proved. As new matters come to light, Denver and Monica’s crashing relationship is revived. They try to help Rio get over his trauma. Sierra found professor, which I knew would happen.

A lot went down in this season, don’t want to drop too many spoilers. So many questions left unanswered. Now:

1. Would the unpredictable Sierra join the gang to save herself and her unborn child OR would she turn the Professor over to the authorities to try to reduce her punishment?

2. How would the crew get out of the bank of Spain?

3. Why didn’t it end at season 4? Why is there a season 5 to be anticipated?

So many more questions left unanswered.

A CHILD FOR A CAR

Cynthia was tired of her transportation woes. She had so many sad transportation stories to tell. This one time, her dress tore while alighting from a bus, another time, it was a passenger’s drink that splashed all over her white shirt on her way to work. Not talking about the time the bus conductor fled with her #1000 change or when she boarded one chance while rushing to get home and was robbed of her belongings. Luckily she escaped being raped while she tried to right back.

Cynthia was at home that Saturday morning when she remembered her friend had invited her for a wedding reception. Thinking of the distance and how much she would spend on cab almost made her decline the invitation but being a nice and outgoing person, she decided to find a way around it. She swung into action and plan A was in session. She called all her outgoing friends to see if she could make at least one or two attend with her so they could split the bills but each one already had something to do.

She wasn’t one to give up so she began to empty all her bags. She made mental calculations and tried to remember if she had any cash stashed anywhere but it was all to no avail. She finally decided to take public transportation and realized it wouldn’t be a terrible idea since the new buses had air conditioning and were comfortable. Thus began her preparation.

Makeup and outfit selection took almost one hour and as soon as she was ready, she rushed to the bus-stop, she hoped to get a bus in time. After a 20 minute wait, a bus finally arrived. She got to the venue when the reception had started, good timing.

Cynthia had so much fun that she totally forgot to check the time and if she stayed too late, she wouldn’t get the new buses. The after party was better than the reception and she danced so much that she got the attention of everyone at the party. So many guys wanted to talk to the gorgeous lady who was also a good dancer and as soon as she remembered her transportation issue, she was quick to ask where they were headed whenever she was in conversation with anyone. She soon spoke to someone who wasn’t going her way but was ready to drop her at home. Cynthia couldn’t believe her luck. They exchanged contacts at her gate and she bade him farewell.

After church the next day, she bumped into this rich married man who always tried to talk to her and jokingly asked if he had any small car he wasn’t using so she could either buy it off him in installments or help him warm it when she needed it till she got herself a car and she was shocked by his response. The man told her to have a child for him so he could buy her a small car. He already has a son with his wife and it was a joke. Cynthia politely declined and walked away thinking, it’s A CAR FOR A CHILD.

She realized that nobody was ready to do anything for anyone if they wouldn’t benefit from the person.

GETTING A JOB

Sandra is a babygirl for life. She got back from school and met this cute rich guy who was ready to take care of her. Sanya was ready to do anything for Sandra.

It was love at first sight. Sandra had gone to visit a friend and on her way back, her cab broke down. Disappointed and looking like a damsel in distress at the road side, Sanya who was driving past saw his damsel in distress and parked at the road side. Getting out of his car, he analyzed Sandra who was trying to get another cab.

All he could see was a pretty brown skin girl with very smooth caramel-like skin and lovely lips. He also noticed her coke-bottle shape and her big buttocks. He walked up to her and asked if he could help, she declined. He offered to drop her and after much persuasion, she obliged. Thus began their friendship which resulted in a serious relationship.

Sandra loved the babe girl life and even as a youth Corp member, she was never to be caught unfresh.

After her service year, she became a full grown baby girl. Her daily routine; wake up, eat, sleep, hangout with friends, go on dates, sleep, get all kinds of gifts. The same routine everyday.

She got tired one day and made up her mind to get a job. After one phone call and a meeting, Sandra was employed.

Her first day at work was as she described it “a bore”. Sandra complained about the environment, the people and she wasn’t even comfortable because of what she noticed on the day of her interview. She also had to take a bike because of the distance when she would rather have taken a cab which would have been expensive due to the heavy traffic.

There and then, she made up her mind she didn’t want to work anymore. She would rather stay at home and find something to do than get a job that would disturb her beauty sleep and would make her leave her house early and get home late. Getting a job is not meant for her lifestyle.

Sandra never went back to the office. No one heard from her or saw her.

Sandra Issa babygirl for life.

There is this Yoruba adage that says “ęni to ni fila, ko lori, ęni to lori, ko ni fila” meaning “he who has a head doesn’t have a cap and he who has a cap has no head to wear it” so if you have both, treasure the little you have.

MOVE

As he opened the letter in fear of being suspended or sacked, he heard his name and as he looked towards the door, what he saw shocked him.

Tunji realized it was all a dream and the voice he heard was that of his sister telling him to get ready for work. He looked at the wall clock in his room which was 4:05 am and he rushed into the bathroom to prepare for work.

Since he got his job, Tunji has worked hard and smart that he got promoted and now drives an official car. Driving out at 4:25 am, he hoped to beat the traffic so his dream doesn’t come to pass but he doesn’t know what the road has in store for him.

He gets to Ikorodu road and is elated at how free the express is. He inserts the aux cord into his mobile phone and the latest songs fill the car with Tunji singing, driving and dancing along. As he ascends the bridge to link to the third mainland bridge, he notices the slow moving traffic and hopes it gives way to free flow ahead.

He watches as a driver gets out of his car, heads to the car in front and slaps the driver while snatching his phone and yelling at him because another car got in front of him while on the phone. Horns blaring and cars stopping to watch the scene, Tunji curses under his breath as the frustrated driver, now calm, goes back to his car angrily saying “next time you would MOVE” and drives off. Traffic is moving again.

After over an hour in traffic, he slowly descends the third mainland bridge and the next thing he hears is skrrrrr followed by a loud boom. His heart races as he discerns that the car behind just hit the official car. He had slated a meeting with a prospective client for 8:30 am and this accident would cost time and money of which he had none.

Thoughts of how late he would get to the office and how hard he had worked to get this meeting with one of their biggest prospective client whom he hoped would assent which would finally earn him his big promotion filled his mind. He couldn’t help but wonder how the official car would be fixed.

It turned out to be his colleague at work who was rushing to prepare for the meeting Tunji had slated. They tailed each other to the office and made it in time.

In his heart, he says a short prayer and goes to his desk to prepare for his meeting. He gets a call stating his client is in the building. The meeting room is filled to the brim with his bosses at the table.

In a short period, the meeting is over and successful. He gets a mail asking him to be at the Human Resource manager’s office and as he steps in, he is invited to sit and an envelope is passed to him as he remembers his dream that morning. He dreads the moment and heads to his office and as he opens the envelope, his eyes open in surprise. He doesn’t know when tears of joy roll down his face.

It turned out to be what he prayed for. His promotion letter.
