MY SPY THE MOVIE: HOW TO BE A SPY 101

What does it take to become a spy? Invisibility? Hidden identity? Lies? Handling a gun? Brains? These are some of the commonly asked questions all over the world. Some people have the natural qualities while some have to undergo special training.

In MY SPY, JJ (Dave Bautista) a hardened CIA operative and his new partner Bobbi (Kristen Schaal) who loves to make chit-chat are caught by 9 year old Sophie (Chloe Coleman) spying on her family during a routine surveillance operation. Sophie makes a deal with JJ teach her how to become a spy in exchange for not blowing their cover. Sophie who grew up in France is having trouble fitting in at her new American school.

The plan goes so well that he becomes her special friend, against his will and gets close to her widowed mum. Sophie passes the lie detector test, ability to enter houses and a few other tests while JJ unknowingly helps the little girl revive her social life.

They make a perfect squad and at the last minute, work as a team to defeat the bad guys (her uncle included). At the end of the movie, JJ had to throw a grenade into a truck that refused to explode so Sophie could have her “walk away from an explosion moment” to the disbelief of her worried mother who scampered to safety.

The movie is a good one which reeks of action, adventure, comedy and a little romance. The movie has some swear words so don’t leave kids alone to watch it. It’s a great movie. Expected more though but it still does it for me.
