A CHILD FOR A CAR

Cynthia was tired of her transportation woes. She had so many sad transportation stories to tell. This one time, her dress tore while alighting from a bus, another time, it was a passenger’s drink that splashed all over her white shirt on her way to work. Not talking about the time the bus conductor fled with her #1000 change or when she boarded one chance while rushing to get home and was robbed of her belongings. Luckily she escaped being raped while she tried to right back.

Cynthia was at home that Saturday morning when she remembered her friend had invited her for a wedding reception. Thinking of the distance and how much she would spend on cab almost made her decline the invitation but being a nice and outgoing person, she decided to find a way around it. She swung into action and plan A was in session. She called all her outgoing friends to see if she could make at least one or two attend with her so they could split the bills but each one already had something to do.

She wasn’t one to give up so she began to empty all her bags. She made mental calculations and tried to remember if she had any cash stashed anywhere but it was all to no avail. She finally decided to take public transportation and realized it wouldn’t be a terrible idea since the new buses had air conditioning and were comfortable. Thus began her preparation.

Makeup and outfit selection took almost one hour and as soon as she was ready, she rushed to the bus-stop, she hoped to get a bus in time. After a 20 minute wait, a bus finally arrived. She got to the venue when the reception had started, good timing.

Cynthia had so much fun that she totally forgot to check the time and if she stayed too late, she wouldn’t get the new buses. The after party was better than the reception and she danced so much that she got the attention of everyone at the party. So many guys wanted to talk to the gorgeous lady who was also a good dancer and as soon as she remembered her transportation issue, she was quick to ask where they were headed whenever she was in conversation with anyone. She soon spoke to someone who wasn’t going her way but was ready to drop her at home. Cynthia couldn’t believe her luck. They exchanged contacts at her gate and she bade him farewell.

After church the next day, she bumped into this rich married man who always tried to talk to her and jokingly asked if he had any small car he wasn’t using so she could either buy it off him in installments or help him warm it when she needed it till she got herself a car and she was shocked by his response. The man told her to have a child for him so he could buy her a small car. He already has a son with his wife and it was a joke. Cynthia politely declined and walked away thinking, it’s A CAR FOR A CHILD.

She realized that nobody was ready to do anything for anyone if they wouldn’t benefit from the person.
