MOVE

As he opened the letter in fear of being suspended or sacked, he heard his name and as he looked towards the door, what he saw shocked him.

Tunji realized it was all a dream and the voice he heard was that of his sister telling him to get ready for work. He looked at the wall clock in his room which was 4:05 am and he rushed into the bathroom to prepare for work.

Since he got his job, Tunji has worked hard and smart that he got promoted and now drives an official car. Driving out at 4:25 am, he hoped to beat the traffic so his dream doesn’t come to pass but he doesn’t know what the road has in store for him.

He gets to Ikorodu road and is elated at how free the express is. He inserts the aux cord into his mobile phone and the latest songs fill the car with Tunji singing, driving and dancing along. As he ascends the bridge to link to the third mainland bridge, he notices the slow moving traffic and hopes it gives way to free flow ahead.

He watches as a driver gets out of his car, heads to the car in front and slaps the driver while snatching his phone and yelling at him because another car got in front of him while on the phone. Horns blaring and cars stopping to watch the scene, Tunji curses under his breath as the frustrated driver, now calm, goes back to his car angrily saying “next time you would MOVE” and drives off. Traffic is moving again.

After over an hour in traffic, he slowly descends the third mainland bridge and the next thing he hears is skrrrrr followed by a loud boom. His heart races as he discerns that the car behind just hit the official car. He had slated a meeting with a prospective client for 8:30 am and this accident would cost time and money of which he had none.

Thoughts of how late he would get to the office and how hard he had worked to get this meeting with one of their biggest prospective client whom he hoped would assent which would finally earn him his big promotion filled his mind. He couldn’t help but wonder how the official car would be fixed.

It turned out to be his colleague at work who was rushing to prepare for the meeting Tunji had slated. They tailed each other to the office and made it in time.

In his heart, he says a short prayer and goes to his desk to prepare for his meeting. He gets a call stating his client is in the building. The meeting room is filled to the brim with his bosses at the table.

In a short period, the meeting is over and successful. He gets a mail asking him to be at the Human Resource manager’s office and as he steps in, he is invited to sit and an envelope is passed to him as he remembers his dream that morning. He dreads the moment and heads to his office and as he opens the envelope, his eyes open in surprise. He doesn’t know when tears of joy roll down his face.

It turned out to be what he prayed for. His promotion letter.

  1. Phew! 😲 Glad to know it was a dream, which ended well.

Interestingly, when people align themselves with the universe, as Abraham Hicks teaches, a lot of things fall into place, as the mind thinketh.

Best to always have clean, clear, positive thoughts.
